OUR WEEKEND IN BROKEN BOW

As you may know, our wedding anniversary was November 10. And while we had dinner and drinks to commemorate the day, we knew we were going to have a delayed celebration getaway in Broken Bow. Our friends at Interstellar Cabin invited us to be the first guests to stay at their newly built Airbnb, so we jumped at the opportunity and hit the road.

THE CABIN

We’ve stayed in cabins in Broken Bow before, but we’ve never spent a weekend there, just the two of us, nor in a contemporary setting like Interstellar. We love that the house provided the warmth and coziness of a cabin combined with the clean architectural lines of a modern home. On top of all that, it seemed like there was something special around every corner of the property.

And while it was just the two of us, Interstellar is really the perfect setup for two couples/families, as there are two bedrooms separated by a breezeway/patio. So you essentially get separate suites/sleeping quarters— a huge plus in our book.

Surrounded by trees, each (generously-sized) window frames the landscape in a way that feels like artwork on the walls.

Umm, hello?!?! A geodesic dome on the property?!

This was such a great space to enjoy a morning coffee and even spend a little time reading.

As the sun started to set on our first day, it was time to get the night started…

DINNER AND A MOVIE

Unlike most trips we take, we made the conscious decision to really unplug. No work e-mails, no posting while in the cabin, etc., and this helped us enjoy the cabin and its amenities even more.

For our first night, we made a “cozy” dinner of grilled cheese (Eddie’s perfected these by now), tomato basil soup, and salad. We followed this up with a few games of SkipBo and Phase 10, and spontaneously ended the night outside by the fireplace watching The Godfather.

TAKE A HIKE

Being out in Broken Bow, it would be a shame not to get out in nature and go for a hike. As you can imagine, one of us historically loves hiking, while the other took this as an opportunity to break in her new boots. Seriously though, the hike was pretty breathtaking. It was a little longer than we expected, but that made it feel even more gratifying to complete.

POST-HIKE CHILL

As you can imagine, we were so ready to unwind from our hike. So before we even got back to the cabin, we made a stop at Grateful Head Pizza that we’d been very much looking forward to and it did not disappoint.

When we did get back to the cabin, it was time to get comfortable, start a fire, and relax. After getting warm and making s’mores, we hopped in the hot tub, watched a little Texas Tech football, then closed the night with wine and board games.

We had such a great time getting away in such a great space in such a beautiful town. It was wonderful reminder of how nice it is to disconnect from our phones, social media at-large and really spend quality time with one you love most.

Thank you so much to the Interstellar Team for hosting us!
